Let me remind you – You are not average. Show the world what you are capable of.

The concept of ranking people, for whatever reasons, probably started in academics. I still wonder why is it that way.

Children go to school to learn. If they knew everything before going to school – why send them to school.

While students learn various subjects, not all of the subjects excite them because they are not sure where to apply the knowledge gained in real life.

Ranking students based on some test is ridiculous. If a student did not understand a particular subject while at school, s/he will surely learn later in life when it is needed.

It does not make this student average for life.

My belief is that if a student did not score well in geography, it shouldn’t matter. Nobody was sent on a space mission straight after school anyway. They learn when they are mature enough and have interest to know more about astronomy.

The damage that this ranking system does is it demoralizes a student completely if they did not score good grades in school. The student then becomes less confident of learning new subjects s/he is interested in.

It is even more ridiculous how teachers in school treat students based on their ranks or grades.

The main objective of enrolling in a  school or any educational institute is to learn to the best of your abilities. Some students learn sooner than the other. Education is a life long learning process.

An individual’s potential and contribution to society cannot be judged by ranks / grades in school.

Majority of the creative professionals and sports personalities were average in studies. They were born to create and innovate with their in born talent  for the world to enjoy – and not to read books and clear some tests.

I was an average student when I learnt computers 2 decades ago and then few years ago took a semi-retirement as Senior delivery lead delivering multi million pound I.T. projects for Europe’s largest mobile phone retailer.

What people thought about me when I was a student did not matter to me as I kept learning something new every month and am still a self-learner.

I believe nobody is average except for people who exists just to rank others.

Starting today, make it a habit to tell yourself  ‘I am Awesome‘.
